Precise cutting, material savings. Marbach’s new wireblanker expands the portfolio for efficient blanking of beverage carriers.

We are expanding our blanking portfolio with a new solution: the wireblanker. The system was developed specifically for the production of rectangular beverage carrier blanks. The goal is to make blanking particularly efficient and material-saving, with a single knife parallel to the gripper.

In the production of beverage carrier blanks, blanking places high demands on precision, process reliability, and material efficiency. In many applications, an additional double knife gutter parallel to the gripper is required, which, however, results in additional material consumption.

With the new wireblanker, we offer a solution that eliminates the need for precisely this double knife. Instead, the blanks are separated using a tensioned blanking wire. A single knife in the machine’s running direction remains necessary.

“What makes our wireblanker special is that, by using a blanking wire, we can eliminate the need for the double knife gutter parallel to the gripper. This allows users to save on cardboard material while achieving a very clean and stable separation of the blanks.”, explains Bernhard Reisser, Industry Manager for Paperboard at Marbach.

The wireblanker is based on a marbablanker frame. To accommodate the steel wire, the bars in the machine direction are specifically reinforced with additional steel elements. This design enables the steel wire to be securely anchored and precisely tensioned.

Eliminating the additional double knife results in significant material savings while simultaneously increasing process reliability. Additionally, users benefit from improved blank quality with reduced marks, as well as particularly clean and stable stacking of the finished blanks.

The system is delivered with a spare parts kit. The design of the corresponding blanking upper part complies with current standards and can be easily integrated into existing production environments. 

With the wireblanker, we offer another efficient way to reduce material usage while simultaneously improving process stability and blanking quality.
