Sales-boosting corrugated-board packaging.

A real eye-catcher at the point of sale.

Packaging has many functions: Protection of the goods, transport, information,.... But above all, packaging should do one thing: stand out at the point of sale and help sell the packaged product.

With the Marbach refinement techniques for corrugated board, normal packaging becomes sales-boosting packaging. Because these techniques ensure an unbeatable look, great haptics and optimal functionality.

Embossing corrugated board is still relatively uncommon compared to folding boxes. But even in the field of corrugated board, the trend is moving more and more towards sophisticated and beautiful packaging. Why? The variety of products is increasing more and more and so is the competition. A product no longer has to be simply packaged, it has to be beautifully packaged. The packaging must be eye-catching and sales-boosting. And that is not all.

The functionality of the packaging must also be suitable, so that the consumer does not just buy the product once, but becomes a repeat buyer. To achieve this, you will discover various refining technologies that can be used individually or in combination with other technologies. For eye-catching products with a very special haptic experience. And optimally functioning opening mechanisms.

Refining corrugated board is a skill that requires a great deal of know-how. Because of the special structure of corrugated board, there are a number of challenges that have to be mastered in order to implement the refinement techniques efficiently. There are various methods that can be used to refine corrugated board packaging. And we not only master various embossing technologies, but also master reverse-cutting and pure edge technology to perfection.

Embossing – for eye-catching packaging at the point of sale.
Embossing is created by using embossing plates (male and female forces). Corrugated board can be embossed in two or more dimensions using these plates. There are two possibilities: embossing or debossing. With embossing, the impression in the packaging is elevated, while with debossing it is deepened, relative to the surface of the material. The result is embossing or debossing that makes the package unique. Providing not only a visual, but also a haptic experience at the point of sale. We understand the essentials of embossing corrugated board, and its special features compared to paperboard.

Reverse-cutting – for attractive packaging and functioning opening mechanisms.
In the food sector, many packages contain opening mechanisms with a long list of requirements: the mechanism must enable the consumer to open packaging with a single hand movement, it must be resealable and dust-tight. In order to obtain attractive but at the same time dust-tight packaging with an elegant tear-open mechanism, reverse cutting technology is available. In this process, the paperboard is scored from both sides – the inside and the outside – in an off-set manner. In this way the board remains intact allowing no dust to enter the packaging. In addition, the board surface can be fully printed, so that the unopened packaging has a very attractive visual effect. Depending on the packaging design, resealing the packaging is also quick and easy. You can find out more about reverse-cutting corrugated board - how to implement this in your production with short make-ready times - in this article.

pure edge - for beautiful visible edges.
Brand owners want beautiful corrugated board packaging with pure visible edges for sales-boosting presentation of their products at the point of sale. The use of conventional cutting-dies often results in the formation of lint and angel hair on the visible edges. But not so with our patented pure edge technology. Here, the customary functional rubbering is replaced by steel. This is non-wearing and so ensures long-lasting and excellent results. The visible edges of corrugated board packaging are cut perfectly by the special cutting-die design, and nicks can thus be reduced. This means that no angel hair and almost no die-cutting dust are produced during the die-cutting process. Up to now, where impure edges might possibly occur, pure edge enables a clear line of the packaging edge. To learn more about this technology, read this article on our Experience Hub.
