This sustainable material is lightweight, stable, recyclable, and an eco-friendly alternative to plastic or polystyrene. However, its high material thickness poses special challenges during die-cutting. With specially developed tools and innovative technologies, we ensure reliable and cost-effective die-cutting processes.

Specialized tools for thick materials
When die-cutting honeycomb board, tools must be particularly stable and robust to cleanly cut through the thick material. Marbach tools are therefore equipped with durable tooth cutting rules, matching anvils, and specially optimized ejector technology.

“Due to its thickness and structure, honeycomb board places very specific demands on tooling technology. That is why we develop our tools specifically for this material and precisely coordinate all components with one another. This enables our customers to achieve stable processes and precise die-cutting results,” explains Michael Kiesel, a specialist in die-cutting technology at Marbach.

Die-cutting on both sides – more efficient production
For particularly thick honeycomb board or double-sided embossing, we have developed a patented technology: die-cutting on both sides. In this process, the material is processed simultaneously from above and below—in a single operation.

The system is based on a two-part tool consisting of a conventional upper tool and a lower tool constructed as a mirror image. This eliminates the need to flip the material, which was previously required.

Simultaneous processing from above and below ensures exceptionally precise cut patterns and dimensionally accurate end products. At the same time, the load is evenly distributed across both tools, reducing wear and supporting consistently stable production processes.
