The trend towards mechanical blanking is ongoing. Compared to manual blanking, it brings more productivity to the entire postpress process. It also ensures accurate stacking of blanks or paperboard sheets. A blanking unit present in the machine should therefore be used as often as possible for reasons of efficiency. This increases efficiency in the further processing of a package. This saves time for the user and so money for the packaging manufacturer.
However, the requirements of the orders or the packaging manufacturers are many and varied. Therefore, we offer a range of solutions for efficient blanking in packaging production.
The Marbach alublanker is a high-precision blanking tool lower part, made completely of one piece and manufactured in one milling operation. The separating grid is made of aluminum and is completely CNC milled. However, it is characterized not only by its high precision, but also by its low weight. This makes it possible for a single machine operator to install the tool in the die-cutting machine. Bernhard Reisser, industry manager folding carton at Marbach, says: "Not needing a second person saves our customers valuable time and money. And of course, productivity is also of enormous importance to our customers. The Marbach lightblanker is a modular blanking tool where the base frame can remain in the machine. It is not only light, but also inexpensive and pays for itself very quickly for short runs and simple layouts. Its great advantage is that the base frame can remain in the machine. It is adapted to the job-specific separating grid each time it is used. And it's lightening-fast: a few simple steps and the lightblanker is ready for use. The lightness of weight is impressive with its quick-release fastener and single-person handling, as well as its high flexibility and fast changeover to sheet delivery.
For repeat orders, we recommend the marbablanker to our customers. The marbablanker is individually adapted to the needs and is characterized by its low weight and high stability. Since the tool frame is designed individually for each order and is firmly connected to the actual separating grid, the marbablanker ensures low set-up times.
Marbach blanking tools originate with the compact blanking tool. The lightblanker and the marbablanker were developed on its foundation. It is made of steel, it is solid and it is massive. Manufactured individually for each customer order, it stands for fast production processes.
Die-cutting machines with a blanking station, can also be used for other purposes: For some jobs, there is a need to stack the entire paperboard sheet precisely and avoid blanking. This full sheet delivery is therefore not a blanking station. However, the blanking station is used to stack the individual paperboard sheets as a whole – with or without front trim waste. Here, too, we have a special solution: the universal sheet delivery.

This special upper tool can be added to the die-cutting machine. This makes it possible to adjust the stacking of the paperboard sheets quickly and easily to each individual job. The results are a huge time advantage for the machine operators, significant set-up time reduction and so a considerable increase in productivity.
Blank separation for small blanks with double knives such as blister cards, ice cream lids or cards in credit card format presents its own special challenges. That is why we offer the nick-breaking technology.
Special case: nick-breaking
With nick-breaking, the pushers in the upper part of the blanking tool are replaced or supplemented by special pins. These are positioned in such a way that the nick is separated in a targeted and controlled manner. Thus, the blanks fall vertically downwards without twisting or tilting. This means that significantly higher speeds can be run with small blanks in special applications. The blanks are reliably separated and the die-cut material is neatly stacked – without any time-consuming machine stops.

We are at home in the packaging industry. Almost 100 years ago, we began in Heilbronn as a 3-man business with a small workshop measuring 36 m² (4 x 9 m).
