We have developed an innovative solution that specifically expands the possibilities for die-cutting honeycomb board. The new technology complements the proven die-cutting process and is used wherever particularly thick honeycomb board needs to be processed or embossing is required on both sides.
Honeycomb board is considered a sustainable and versatile packaging material, but it poses special challenges in the die-cutting process. Its thickness and structure make it difficult to cut through and have previously required several steps. The new technology offers clear advantages: two perfectly coordinated tools enable double-sided die-cutting in a single step.
"What makes our technology special is that the honeycomb board is die-cut on both sides simultaneously in a single process. This results in precise cuts, clean edges, and enormous time savings," explains Michael Kiesel, specialist in die-cutting technology at Marbach.
The process is impressive both technically and economically. The use of shorter cutting rules results in greater stability, minimizes deformation, and significantly improves dimensional accuracy. The evenly distributed pressure reduces tool load, lowers wear and extends the service life of the tools – without the need for anvil.
“With this technology, we are setting new standards in the die-cutting process for honeycomb board and creating the perfect balance between performance, quality, and sustainability,” says Michael Kiesel.
